Fragile - Yes

(1971, Progressive rock, 41:11, 82667-2, 1994 rerelease)

Fragile is, in my opinion, the 3rd greatest progressive rock album of all time. The album is playful, fun, light, and tightly executed. The album is absolutely a treasure, and I am glad to have it.

I was digging through the used cd section of the local record store, mostly poking around to see on the off chance if there was any Streetlight Manifesto, when I found it for around 10 dollars. Of course albums are around 12-15 dollars new, so it wasn't an insane find, but it was in really good condition as you can see by the picture above.

As soon as I had gotten out of the store, I popped the cd into the car stereo, and I forced honkrag to listen to it with me. I hadn't listened to the album cover to cover since high school (So like, 3 years :P). I had listened to individual tracks from time to time, but not in full, and honestly it reminded me of why I love this album so much.

Roundabout, and Yes in general is mostly remembered because it was used in ... something, idk. The opening acoustic guitar part is crazy, but my favorite part of the track is basically any time you hear the keyboard kick in, absolutely kicks ass. Quite a bit of this album is just jamming. I assumed tracks like We Have Heaven have some sort of intended meaning, but like many of the tracks on this album, the meaning is usually something inspired from the members personal lives. Any meaning gathered is your own with a few exceptions. Unlike Rush you don't get a lot of concrete meaning.

In terms of tracks that definently don't have any meaning, The Fish is one of my favorites. If Schindleria Praematurus means anything to you Well, I guess you should email me about it.

If you're interested in progressive rock at all, you should go give it a listen, I am personally glad to have it in my collection.
